In loving memory of Denis John Murray September 8th, 1947 - November 5th, 2025.

On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, beneath an auspicious full moon, our beloved Denis—Dad, Grandpa, brother, uncle, teacher, and friend—took his final breath, surrounded by the love of his family.

Denis was honored by his Tibetan Buddhist teacher with prayers and the P’howa ritual, reflecting the spiritual path he walked with devotion and intention in the years following his retirement from a lifelong career as an insurance agency field executive. We are deeply appreciative to all who offered care, prayers, messages, and presence throughout the three and half months of his metastatic lung cancer journey.

In keeping with Denis’ clearly stated wishes and spiritual traditions, there was no funeral. After cremation, his ashes were sent to his Tibetan monastery in upstate New York, where daily prayers will continue for a prescribed period. This was a path Denis prepared for years in advance, with thoughtfulness and peace.

Denis is survived by his lifelong friend/partner Barb Murray of 53 years, his children (Jen Murray/Meighan Bentz, Paul Murray/Joy Murray) and grandchildren (Jasper Murray-Bentz and Skylar Murray-Bentz), as well as sister (Sheila Aldrich), several extended family, and many friends whose lives were shaped by his presence, teachings, and love.

Denis was preceded in death by his brothers: Pat Murray, Tim Murray, Jerry Jr. Murray.
