Jolanta Jimenez (née Dutczak, formerly Galezewski), of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on October 31, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born in Leicester, England, on June 14, 1950, Jolanta immigrated to the United States at age six with her mother, father, sisters and brother. She grew up on Milwaukee’s South Side and graduated from Mercy High School with the Class of 1969.

Known to her grandchildren as “Nani,” Jolanta was a phenomenal cook, a stubborn lady, and a woman who knew exactly how things should be done. Her hot ham and rolls had to be sliced “paper-thin”—a request, perhaps; not a suggestion. Pierogi were judged against one standard: the ones Babcia, used to make. All others were welcome to try.

She loved her Coca-Cola, Oreo cookies, Nash Bridges, and black-and-white movies. Her housekeeping standards were legendary. When a room was “Jolanta clean,” you could have performed surgery in it—provided you cleaned up afterward.

Jolanta gave what she could, most often a home-cooked meal. If she cooked for you, it meant she liked you, and she put 100 percent of her effort into every dish. Her food said what she might not always put into words: you mattered to her. Getting a seat at her table was a sign of affection; getting her to approve of someone else’s pierogi was another matter entirely.

She leaves behind her son, Nick Galezewski (Lucia); her daughter, Peggy Galezewski; her seven grandchildren, Jack, Jake, Aniyah, Antwan, Martyna, Bryson, and Lola; and her great-granddaughter, Gabriella. She is also survived by her sister, Ana Guzinski (Jim); her brother, Henry Dutczak (Julie); and nieces, nephews, other family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jozef Dutczak; her mother, Karolina Grech; her stepfather, Mykolai Grech; and her sister, Danuta.

A celebration of Jolanta’s life will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at Northern Lights Event Venue, 106 W. Seeboth Street, Suite 103, Milwaukee, WI 53204. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at noon. Refreshments and appetizers will be served at 1:00 p.m.

In honor of Jolanta’s love for Coca-Cola and Oreos, the family requests that guests wear black, red, and a sprinkle of white—a little nod to two of her favorite treats.

Jolanta will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered—especially around the dinner table, where the ham had better be slice paper- thin.
